Inspection Bodies Accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17020

An Inspection Body that has been accredited to ISO 17020 standards is one that examines
material, products, installations, plants, processes, work procedures, or services to
determine if they conform to requirements and subsequently reports the outcome of these
activities. Lifting equipment, cranes, pressurized gas cylinders, and asbestos in buildings,
lifts, hoists, cranes, electrical equipment, escalators, and so on, maybe inspected by these
organisations. These organisations are independent in order to ensure compliance with legal
and market demands. An inspection could need to be conducted by a body having
third-party status, meaning that they are impartial with respect to the seller, manufacturer,
and purchaser. In order to guarantee impartiality, some inspections must be conducted by
Inspection Bodies that are independent of sellers, producers, and buyers. It is applicable to
any and all inspection levels and to inspection bodies of types A, B, or C as outlined in
ISO/IEC 17020:2012.
